Functional Medicine

A More Personalized Approach to Your Health

Functional medicine is an individualized, systems-based approach to health that looks beyond isolated symptoms and asks a different question: Why might these symptoms be occurring in the first place?

Rather than focusing on one symptom or body system at a time, functional medicine considers how factors such as nutrition, digestion, lifestyle, stress, metabolic health, nutrient status, environmental factors, and other physiological processes may be interacting.

The goal is to better understand the patterns contributing to your health concerns and use that information to develop a personalized plan designed around you using natural means such as diet, supplements, and lifestyle changes.

Meet Dr. Kaufman

Our functional medicine program is led by Dr. Hayden Kaufman, D.C.

In addition to Chiropractic care, Dr. Kaufman has pursued advanced education in functional and integrative health from the Kresser Institute with a focus on helping patients better understand the underlying factors that may be contributing to persistent or complex health concerns.

His approach emphasizes:

  1. Patient education

    • The Greek word for ‘Doctor’ means “to teach”, as Dr. Kaufman’s grandfather and pediatrician always told him, “If you don’t educate your patients on what is happening and why, you are doing them a disservice.”

  2. Appropriate Functional Laboratory Testing (Don’t guess, Test!)

  3. Nutrition

  4. Lifestyle Modifications

  5. Individualized Nutritional Supplementation
